Australia Day 2008
G’day Kev Heads!
Australia Day 2008… I don’t know what it was like around the rest of Australia, but just 10 minutes away from where I sit at my desk a riot broke out down one of Perth’s beautiful beach parks. Young kids aged between 15 and 17 decked out in Australian Clobber, Aussie Flags, double pluggers, footy shorts and green and gold were rioting against fellow Aussies for a reason no one knows… hardly being Australian
Being Australian is all about enjoying the great outdoors, having a beer with your mates, playing footy and cricket on the beach, an arvo BBQ and having that carefree lifestyle that the rest of the world envy. Unfortunately Australia Day for many teenagers is all about getting completely shitfaced beyond belief and starting riots and bashing up your fellow Aussies. To the rest of Australia, Perth seems pretty sad; we basically look like a violent bunch of Yobbos.
Because of this stupid act, now long gone are the days of going to out local beach/park and having a few beers and playing some footy. Everyone else has to suffer because of some teenagers thinking its ‘Australian’ to start riots… Australia is not proud.
Lets pass on the True Blue Aussie way of life to our young Australians, teach the to be patriotic and proud of our country, not violent.
Seriously…. If someone is pissing you off on Australia Day just say DILLIGAF!!! Get over it, don’t be a dickhead and start a riot!

The same thing happened at Burleigh beach on the Queensland Gold Coast, where kids as young as 14 were fighting, throwing rocks etc. One police officer was knocked down and kicked in the head while he was on the ground, so your story did not even make the news over here.
